Wedding Fayres….All the good parts!
So wedding fayre season is upon us from late August running into November, breaking for Christmas and starting up in the new year for another 2 months. It’s a busy time of year for wedding venues and suppliers as this is the time they get to meet with couples and get bookings. For couples on the other hand it can come across as a sales nightmare with pushy suppliers trying to get you to look here or book now etc..this can be off putting for couple (and me to be honest), this is not what a wedding fayre is about. So in this blog I’m going to go through some of the good points of wedding fayre season with you all so hopefully you enjoy your next experience at one.
Why would you want to go?
Well the venue being the first part. If this is the venue you plan to book it’s a good time to visit and meet with the planners and see the room decorated. You will also see what the room is like being busy with people like on your wedding day, have a look at the entrance, is it suitable for all types of weather conditions, also do you have a private entrance (like some hotels now have), do you have a private bar or shared with other hotel guests?
Entering the room with all the suppliers in will give you an idea of space, imagine all your wedding guests here, how the room looks, can you see the top table, is it warm or cold in the room.
Once you are in the room you now have the opportunity to speak to potential suppliers, you will have a choice of maybe 2 or 3 different types, see what the difference is and which one suits your style and needs the best, talk to them and get a feel for the person, do you think this is someone you can work with, are they easy to talk to, are they interested in your ideas. Wedding fayres are about connecting with suppliers not about making sales (great if it happens), but in general your getting to meet someone you would be happy to book and work with in the future.
At what stage in your planning do you need to go?
Most couples that have just got engaged tend to go straight away even if they don’t have a venue or date yet. They are really just seeing what it’s all about, what’s out there and getting their eyes opened! Others are looking for something in particular, maybe they want to look at cakes so they can come along and have a taste and look at what the supplier can offer them or maybe it’s cars, suppliers will have them there on the day all shined up and the driver dressed for the occasion. Then you have couples that might be running out of time and left things a little late and need to book suppliers on the day (please don’t do this).
The main thing…
Remember that planning a wedding is something you might not have done before so having a place you can go to gather information on suppliers in your area, talk with venues, see products and get excited about your wedding day. We are very lucky to have a range of fab venues available to us and some of the best suppliers in the business to help guide you with your planning whatever your style is. Fayres are a great way to look and touch before making any decisions or bookings and I would highly recommend them to all couples that are planning their wedding.
I hope you liked my blog on Wedding Fayres and hope to meet you this season.
